The History of Cove Mardi Gras: From Campground Krewe to Library Archives
Cove Mardi Gras traces its roots back to 2001, when snowbirds Ron & Lynn Boucher, along with a dedicated Krewe of 20 campers, hosted Cypress Cove’s very first Mardi Gras Parade and celebration. For five years, this hardworking group brought the vibrant spirit of Mardi Gras to life before passing the torch to the Cove Activities Department.
Ron and Lynn generously donated VHS recordings of the 2001 and 2003 parades to the American Nudist Research Library (ANRL). These tapes were converted to DVDs and added to the Library’s Archives to help preserve Cove history, promote Mardi Gras traditions, and inspire volunteer involvement. While the video quality may show its age, the recordings offer a nostalgic glimpse at many familiar faces from years past.
Library members can borrow DVDs #1103 and #1104. Friends of the Library are welcome to view them onsite or purchase copies. ANRL also encourages donations of historical materials to continue building its archives. Enjoy this unique peek into the early days of Cove Mardi Gras!
Back to the '80s Weekend
It's happening June 13 - 15! Break out the leg warmers and neon... It's time to rewind!
The party kicks off Friday at noon with a high-energy pool party hosted by DJ Caril. That evening, get ready to belt out your favorite retro anthems during Karaoke Night at Scuttlebutts, starting at 7 pm. Big hair and bold voices are encouraged.
Saturday heats up with DJ Xavier’s '80s pool party—nonstop hits and sunshine. When the sun sets, Beauty & the Beats take over Lakeside at 7 pm with an unforgettable live performance. This powerhouse band brings the ultimate throwback energy, delivering a curated blend of 80s favorites that’ll hit you right in the nostalgic feels. From iconic anthems to forgotten one-hit wonders, Beauty & the Beats doesn’t just perform—they create a full-on immersive musical experience. Fronted by TikTok sensation Charity, with over 500K followers, this band brings charisma, killer vocals, and a vibe that’s pure electric. Make your Lakeside reservations early—this show is one you won’t want to miss. Check them out on Facebook.
If live music isn’t your jam, head to the West Pool at 8 pm for Dancing Under the Stars, where our very own DJ Dave will keep the retro beats rolling under the night sky.
Sunday brings one more round of poolside tunes starting at noon. At 6 pm, head to Old Cheeks for Family Game Night—think Pictionary or Name That Tune, laughter, and friendly competition. Then cap off the weekend at 8:30 pm with our Dive-In Movie, featuring a time-traveling teen, a DeLorean, and a wild ride back to where it all began. Where they're going... they don't need roads!

Luau Weekend

Back to the '70s Weekend – June 27–29
Get ready to turn back time and groove through a totally tubular weekend at Cypress Cove! The fun kicks off Friday with a funky Pool Party featuring DJ Dave, followed by Bar Trivia and an evening of Dancing Under the Stars that'll have you feelin’ far out. On Saturday, DJ Xavier keeps the good vibes rolling at the pool, then it's time to test your knowledge at Super Mega Trivia before Speed Limit 70 rocks Lakeside Live. Cap the night with a Late Night Dance Party at Cheeks—where disco never died. Sunday brings chill vibes with live poolside tunes by Andy, a laid-back Game Night at Old Cheeks, and a Dive-In Movie that’ll have you flying high with laughter. Can you guess which 1980s classic took off from the '70s and still has us quoting it decades later?

BRING YOUR FIRST-TIME FRIENDS AND FAMILY!!!!
As part of Nude Recreation Week —yes, there is a national week for that—Cypress Cove is opening its doors to first-time visitors for an Open House event on Saturday, July 12, with guided VIP tours from Noon until 4:00 p.m. What happens at a nudist resort open house? Simply put, Cypress Cove invites first-time visitors so they can see how much fun au natural recreation can be. With complimentary resort tours, food for purchase, music by the pool, and access to all resort amenities, you can bring your curious family and friends to FINALLY introduce them to Cypress Cove. It's free admission ALL day, so come out and see what REAL freedom feels like.
