Goodbye Snowbirds Weekend 2020

27 March 2020

It's time for our beloved snowbird to start flying north for the summer and we want to send some love your way before you leave. This is the time of year we start to see our seasonal residents starting to make arrangements to head home. Don't worry if you plan on hanging around for a while, we enjoy having you!

The weekend begins with Roulette Karaoke at Scuttlebutts with DJ Xavier. It takes a brave person to step up and sing whatever is thrown out there for you.

Petanque Tournament is happening at 9 am. Meet your fellow players and be ready to kick some nude butt! After the tournament, treat the losers to a round of drinks! DJ Xavier will be hosting your Pool Party at the West Pool where he's playing the best hits of yesterday and today. Grab lunch poolside and see what everyone has been up to.

Don't forget to make reservations at Lakeside for Saturday evening. It's SUPERSTAR NIGHTS with a Tribute to Neil Diamond. Come listen to an evening full of his greatest hits. The party continues at Cheeks with The VOID High Energy Dance party with DJ D.

Fun Facts About Snowbirds:

The term “snowbird” has been around for almost 100 years. The word was first used in 1923 to describe seasonal workers who moved south for the winter months. By 1979 the term was commonly referred to as the large number of retiree tourists who flocked to the south.

John D. Rockefeller was one of the very first snowbirds. Rockefeller was way ahead of his time and spent the winters in Ormond Beach, Florida beginning in 1914.
