Lakeside Restaurant is serving up some “Soul Food” specials for the Mowtown celebration Friday & Saturday. Enjoy “Hoppin John” (black-eyed peas, smoked ham hocks, tomatoes, rice, chili peppers, etc.), Southern Fried Chicken, Jambalaya, & Meatloaf. Try our homemade Peach Cobbler!

On Sunday, Cheeks Bar & Grill will be offering Super Bowl Specials starting at
6:00 PM.  Ultimate Nachos, Buffalo Wings, Oyster Shooters, and specials prices on Buckets of Beer will be available.

Mardi Gras Celebration
Tuesday, February 21

Dust off your Mardi Gras costumes and get your parade entries ready for February 21, FAT TUESDAY!  The festivities will start with the Monday night dance featuring Errol & Brenda from 5:30-9:30.

There will be body painting by Cove artists on Tuesday morning starting at 10:00 by tennis court #3.

The parade will start at 1:00, following the same route as last year, starting at camping area overflow to Blue Sky Lane, then to Suntan Drive and completing in front of the office. Again this year, we will be lining up at the gardens by the maintenance building at 12:30. 

The street party will follow on Otter Lane with music by Wolfgang. Please bring your own chairs, snack and beverage.

See Sandi Taylor to get your 50/50 tickets. They go on sale beginning February 14.  Buy your sweetie a chance to win big bucks! Drawing will be at 4:30 at the street party on the 21st.  Last tickets sold by 4:00pm. Cost is $1.00/ticket, $5.00/10 tickets, $10.00/25 tickets. Your TICKET must be present to win.

News from Ted

You may have noticed that both of our gate arms have been down the last few days. I guess extending the arm length put a little pressure on the already worn out gear boxes. Matt has added some weight to counter balance them better. The parts are in and we expect to have them both up and running this week.

Unfortunately, we didn't get enough entries for the Bake Off (previously scheduled for this Friday), so Arnie has made the decision to cancel the event.

Things like this are a lot of fun, but they require participation from the members to pull off. If you've got a group of friends who would like to do something like this, just let us know. As long as it's reasonable, we're always happy to add new activities to the calendar.

The Cove's got a new 2 Person Kayak down by lakefront. Like the canoe and pedal boats, it is free to use. Just pick up the paddles from the Office. Matt built a shelter for it to help protect the plastic from our Florida sun. Please return the Kayak to it's shelter when you are done.

We are going to be doing some filming around the resort next week, Mon - Wed. It's part of a PR project for the Cove. There will be a shot at the pool on Monday afternoon and we need extras to be in the pool in the background. The extras will need to sign releases, so keep that in mind.

If you are willing to be in the shot, please come down to the pool around 2:30 pm on Monday. We'll give a free drink ticket to anyone who helps out. If you normally pay grounds fees, just let me know and I'll be happy to comp you in for the day.

Cypress Cove's 48th Anniversary is coming up in April. We've been doing a video presentation of old photos of the Cove through the years. Ivan came up with the idea of presenting some of our old videos.

There's a lot of things that might be fun to go back and look at: Jim on To Tell the Truth, Dean on What's My Line, the nudist scene from Smokey & The Bandit III (which features several Cove members, including my folks), various news clips, talk show appearances such as Donahue, Geraldo, etc. There were even a couple of low budget movies filmed here.

The library has some footage that they've kindly dug up for us, but we're still missing quite a bit. If you've got any old video tapes or DVDs lying around that are Cove related, please get in touch with us.

After dinner, head over to the pool area for a dip in the pool or a delightful hot tub. You can't do that at Outback!
Lakeside Restaurant food available Mon, Thu-Sat until 9 pm. Cheeks food available Sun-Thu until 9 pm, Fri-Sat until 10 pm. Offer available after 6 pm, same night only. Credit may be applied towards food only, not alcohol.

We have a lot of visitors who stay in the area but not actually at Cypress Cove. For those visitors, we have created a new Special Offer, come as often as you like for up to two weeks for just $50 per person. This can be a huge savings if you visit often. Offer applies to day visits only, provides no discount on overnight stays; two weeks may not be split, must be consecutive.

Cypress Cove now offers free wireless internet throughout the hotel, campground and pool area. Signal quality may vary by location.
