Naked Astronomy brings the science of astronomy and the pleasure of stargazing to Florida’s most beautiful clothes-free resort.

Nudists love the Sun and will love the chance to see our nearest star, Sol, in ways our naked eyes cannot without special protective filters. Sun spots and spectacular solar prominences will delight all who dare to sunbathe au naturel.

After sunset, the Naked Astronomer will conduct a Star Party on the lawn featuring a three planet conjunction, the first quarter Moon, and the beautiful ringed-planet Saturn.

Co-Ed Triples Volleyball Tournament
May 26 - 27

The volleyball is a fun Co-Ed Triples Tournament played on grass courts. We have divisions A, AA, and AAA. There is a round robin on Saturday and a double elimination on Sunday to determine the winners.

Teams sign up Saturday morning before play. Single players without a team can sign up as well. They will be put together or picked up by teams looking for additional players if possible.

Cost is $30 per person which includes day fees for up to three days (Fri-Sun) and optional tent camping on the lakefront. Children are free. Guests paying to stay overnight in the hotel or RV park play for free. Hope to see you there!

Professional Body Painting Contest / World Record Skinny Dip
Open House, Saturday, July 13

Cypress Cove is proud to announce our second annual Professional Body Painting Contest on Saturday, July 13, 2013.

Our first Body Painting Contest was held last year as part of our National Nude Weekend celebration. It was a great success and was popular with the artists and the many guests who attended the event.

We received some feedback from the artists and will be making a few tweaks to make it even better. We have introduced a theme this year, Superheroes vs Supervillains. You may choose one side or the other, or depict an epic battle. You are free to use known characters or ones of your own design. The more creative you get with the theme the better. We will also be providing food and beverages for the artists and models this year. Artists will be provided an indoor, air conditioned space to work.

Body Painting and Nudism make a great combination, as it provides artists the opportunity to work out in the open. Guests will be invited to watch the artists work, though most will wait to see the final product at the judging. The prizes for the event will be as follows:

· First Prize - $500
· Second Prize - $250
· Third Prize - $150

Also during Open House, AANR will be holding another World Record Skinny Dip attempt this year. Clubs and beaches throughout the country will be participating.

We can't really control the combined number, so our number to beat is the Cove record of 556. Come out to Open House, which is a FREE day anyway, and help us beat that record!!!!

News from Ted

This is our Crazy Hat Weekend. We've got Karaoke on Thursday, a Streak at Cheeks on Friday, a Pool Party on Saturday, and our Crazy Hat Dance & Costume Contest w/ DJ Xavier on Saturday night. Wear your craziest, silliest hat and you just might win a free dinner for two at the Lakeside Restaurant. Plus, it's fun!  :)

This weekend also marks the return of The Naked Astronomer to Cypress Cove. He will offer a presentation on the Moon on Saturday afternoon, followed by a sun viewing using special filters. They after dark, come down for amazing close up looks at the moon.

Next weekend is our Memorial Day Weekend Co-Ed Triples Volleyball Tournament, May 25th & 26th. It's a really fun tournament with competitive play and good friends. The AAA is great to watch, but we really need more A players. Come on out!

Our new professional photo shoot has been moved tentatively to June. It's just a matter of coordinating everyone's schedules. I'll let you know when we have firm dates.

The purpose of the photo shoot is to refresh our artwork for advertising, brochures and our website. We will be using a combination of professional and volunteer models.

If you would be willing to volunteer to be in the photos (some may be featured, others will be in the background of shots), please sign up at the Activities Office. Volunteers will need to sign a photo release on the day of the shoot. They will be looking for a few crowd shots at Scuttlebutts, the West Pool, and our sports facilities. We should have signs up when we have a better idea of the shooting schedule.

Someone suggested that we create a page on our website going into a bit more detail on our various classes and activities. If you are responsible for one of the scheduled classes or activities, please email me a brief description. One sentence would be okay, more if needed, but just a summary for new visitors. I'm thinking of everything from bingo to exercises to petanque. Thank you in advance!

Looking for a nice place to have dinner? Have you tried the Lakeside Restaurant recently? Now you can come to the Cove after 5 pm and the full cost of your gate fees (which are 1/2 price after 5 pm) will be applied to dinner at the Lakeside Restaurant or Cheeks Bar & Grill. After dinner, head over to the pool area for a dip in the pool or a delightful hot tub. You can't do that at Outback!
Lakeside Restaurant food available Mon, Thu-Sat until 9 pm. Cheeks food available Sun-Thu until 9 pm, Fri-Sat until 10 pm. Offer available after 5 pm, same night only. Credit may be applied towards food only, not alcohol.

Offer applies to day visits only, provides no discount on overnight stays; two weeks may not be split, must be consecutive.

Cypress Cove now offers free wireless internet throughout the hotel, campground and pool area. Signal quality may vary by location.
